The Biosphere and Alignment

Alignment and the Biosphere

I love the word “Alignment”. It’s a gentle move; finding my place together with others in a broader structure, and as an over-arching structure, letting my parts find their optimal place. All the way up and down.

All the cells in my body are aligned, forming this human being. All species in a healthy eco-system, are aligned with each other and the environment.

I see alignment as an essential path forward, whatever happens in my life and on planet Earth. It’s a tool for building stable foundations, and it’s a tool for handling rough times together, and for healing myself. It’s an outer and inner work, done by individuals together.

As a human being, I align all of me with the Biosphere.
As the Biosphere, I align all my parts, all living beings.
Unconditionally.

Alignment and the Biosphere

The Wider Embraces method, is the best tool for alignment I know about. Please tell me if you know a better one!

It’s powerful, yet soft.
It’s complex, yet simple to do.
It’s a collective work, yet respects the integrity of every individual.

Alignment is essential, and I insist that you give it a try.
Do it for yourself, Humanity and the Biosphere. We need each other.
Do it together with me, now!

Innside Earth – Hell or Healing?

Inside a Swiss Mountain at Rosenlaui

When you think of planet Earth; do you see the oceans and the continents? The air? I guess you do.

But are you aware of the inner of the planet? The part of Earth that is hidden, that we can’t see, nor visit. I must admit that I’ve almost entirely related to Earth’s surface and hardly ever conceiving it as the massive globe it is.

A Sunday evening a few weeks ago during one of our online Wider Embraces session we took the perspective as the Group. Then we felt a pull downwards, and we sunk into the inner of our planet, into the magma.

It’s a surprisingly interesting perspective, and we’ve been exploring it since. It’s also one of the most healing places we’ve been to, both physically and psychologically. We don’t experience any heat, but a dense, slow-moving ocean of melted rock, very comfortable. Our bodies relaxing on a deep level and our unexamined fears of the underworld dissolving.

My Atoms Feel at Home here

The atoms in my body know this place, they’ve been here before during their 4,5 billion long planetary journeys. When the Earth formed, its inside and outside shifted in intense volcanic activity for the first half billion years.

Yesterday we descended all the way to the centre of the planet. Strange place with upward all the way around. Took a while to wrap my head around, though my body had no problem to rest here. Not being stretched between up and down, but gently embraces from all directions.

So on an atomic level, this place deep inside the planet is home, but as biological beings, we wouldn’t survive here a millisecond. We are surface beings, with a planetary body.

Not a Trace of Hell

But where is Hell? We looked around, but couldn’t find it, not a trace of evil creatures lurking below the surface. No trolls, no eternal fire, no shadows or dark impulses. Only peace.

The downward direction is almost always considered bad and wrong in our languages and our myths. As humanity, we are walking on the ground, imagining that beneath our feet there is hell and above us is heaven. And even if we are secular and don’t buy into the stories, it’s part of our collective subconscious, and it makes us disconnected from Earth. Aiming for Mars and the stars, instead of feeling our deep bonds with this planet.

For me, this journey into the inner of our planet has been healing and grounding. There is nothing between me and the massive body of Earth. I belong here, unconditionally.

The Irrepressible Life Force

The Irrepressible Lifeforce – Alder tree on the beach of Fulltofta, frozen lake

We all love the gifts of growth and development:
– Longer, healthier lives!
– Surviving kids!
– Food from all over the world, year round!
– Better, bigger houses with tap water and washing machine!
– Communication via radio, TV, computer, mobile phone!
– Travelling across the globe!
– Knowledge and entertainment 24-7!

Who wants to limit any of this for oneself?
Or tell someone else to limit their life?
Or tell the poor not to dream about it?

Though we know that we can’t have limitless growth on a finite planet and we consume 1.2 planets today, and the human population is growing.

The List of Suspects

To handle the downsides of our progress, we have a long list of suspects to blame:
– The rich and the capitalist system.
– Colonialism and the western civilisation.
– Men and the patriarchy.
– The rational mind and technology.

Pointing the finger, not sensing the underlying force in all of us.

The Irrepressible Life Force

Take a deep breath and feel that you are a part of life on Earth, all the way back to the cell 3,7 billion years ago, from which all life on Earth has sprung, including you.

Life on Earth is the story of the irrepressible life force, exploiting every possible niche. Our huge family tree lives in the oceans and lakes, in the air, on the plains, in the mountains, it lives inside hard rocks, cold ice, and hot springs.

Our family tree has gone through at least five mass extinctions but always got back and formed new species and new diverse and complex ecosystems. Though, to recover after a mass extinction event, takes five to thirty million years, depending on the scale of the crash. It’s not a quick fix, but a persistent struggle to keep on living and changing.

The Archetype of Planet Earth

If you put your feet down into the warm, slow-moving magma inside the Earth and feel the heart of the planet – you will sense the origin of the life force that is flourishing on its surface. The Force of Life is the archetype of planet Earth. We all live inside this force, and we are an expression of it.

Owning it – No Separation

We, as humanity, are the most potent and powerful expression of this life force. And there is nothing strong enough to counter-balance us, no outer borders that can hold us. Other than a brake-down of the biosphere, what we called our support system. Our mighty strength is our curse.

It’s about time to own the irrepressible life force in myself.
Feel it’s beauty and strength – It gave birth to me and everything I love.
Feel it’s limitless growth – It’s destroying me and everything I love.

There is no separation. Nothing outside me to point the finger at and blame.

When I am one with our Planetary Life Force – I can start to feel into how I might self-limit, as the Embrace of all of us.

All photos of the same alder tree at lake Ringsjön in Fulltofta. The tree lives through winter, high water and low water. Notable is also the reed and other plants that have started to grow in the sand due to this summers extream low water.

I am Life of Sun and Planet

Sun and Planet

As life on Earth, I’m Embraced by our Planet but just as much by the Sun.

Our Star is not a distant energy source, but an integrated part of life on Earth.

Obviously!

But I have never experienced it so clearly, as during tonight’s Wider Embraces session.

Hi, I’m Planet Earth

Planet Biosphere Humans

Hi, I’m Planet Earth and here is the story of me and one of my species; homo sapiens.

For 3,7 billion years I’ve been developing a multitude of species, who are living in a complex web of interdependences; with advanced communication and resource allocation systems, energy efficient and with well-integrated recycling. I’ve had my ups and downs due to asteroids, volcanos, climate change and sea level fluctuation. But I’ve kept living and breathing through ever new species.

Some hundred thousands years ago one of my species, homo sapiens, embarked on an exciting journey. They started to become self-aware and develop a new sort of culture, with art, dance and learning. They began to think of me as a set of gods who lived in the animals, rivers and mountains all around them and their ancestors were hanging around as spirits. Even if the humans were a bit disconnected from my other parts, they still listened to me through shamanic journeys, trans dance and so on. They had to keep the connection if they wanted to find food and survive.

After hundreds of thousands of years of hunting and gathering, they started to farm plants and tame animals, and they created their own local ecosystems with as few species as possible, with the aim to produce wealth only for their species. Their gods moved away from the village, up into a huge tree or to the top of a mountain far away. They thanked their gods for what the plants and animals produced. Weird.

Well, my humans formed larger societies, and their gods became disconnected from me and moved up to heaven. This made it possible for more people to worship the same god and they formed larger societies based on trust and fear of this one god. My humans now started to believe that it was their god in heaven that had created the planet and given it to them. Well, well.

Some hundred years ago my humans discovered the stored and concentrated sunlight that my plants had collected during hundreds of millions of years. Overnight they became almost omnipotent. They needed no god anymore. The planet was theirs to enjoy, exploit and reshape. And they did, oh yes they did!

Not very long ago, they went to heaven and took a photo of me from outer space. I love that first photo of me. Looking at that photo, my humans finally understood that I’m a sphere and waste and pollution doesn’t go away, the sea isn’t limitless, nor is the land or the air. They started to call parts of me “ecological”, “organic” and “natural”. They began to talk about protecting me as if they were not a part of me, like I was a child to take care of, though I was the one who gave rise to them and has been feeding them and living them all the time.

Some of them reconnect with me, using shamanic techniques or spending a weekend in a “wild” part of me. While they still are consuming stuff as if I was four times bigger, then I am.

The last fifty years, their recognition of my web of life, what they call ecology and biology, has increased tremendously. So has their understanding of my complex metasystems and they start to become a bit humble before what I have accomplished without their help.

Though most of my humans are still absorbed with issues concerning their own species and their personal goals of power, pleasure, growth and enlightenment. A few of them have started to understand that they are me and I am them. That they are part of the planetary family tree, as are all living beings, and that they are part of the global ecosystem. Slowly they get that they belong here, they are not separate.

What they were unconsciously embedded in before, they can now consciously reconnect with. They can make me self-aware and themselves conscious contributors to life on Earth.

The idea of the one god, the omnipotent humanity and the separate individual made it hard for them to realise that it was me they experienced when they turned inwards. A holographic reality.

This blog post is my answer to ”Share an example of how you have the Spiral Dynamics levels in organisational contexts”, in the course ”Organization by Natural Design”, by Peter Merry. www.ubiquity.courses/p/organization-by-natural-design. I know I’ve stretched the topic a bit, but this is a story I use to understand where we come from and how to move forward and the organisational context is this Planet.

If you like to consciously reconnect with the planet, you are welcome to join our Open Embraces every second Sunday.
